Understanding Entities

The GPSR Compliance Suite manages three types of economic operators (entities):

Manufacturer

The company that manufactures the product or has it designed/manufactured and markets it under their own name or trademark.

Required information: Legal name, full address, email or phone, website (recommended).

EU Responsible Person

An economic operator established in the EU who takes on certain compliance responsibilities. Required when the manufacturer is based outside the EU.

Key obligations:

Act as the EU contact point for market surveillance authorities

Ensure traceability information is available

Cooperate with authorities on corrective measures

Importer

A company established in the EU that places a product from a non-EU country onto the EU market.

Key obligations:

Verify that the manufacturer has carried out conformity assessment

Ensure the product bears required markings and documentation

Provide own name and contact details on the product or packaging

Can One Company Fill Multiple Roles?

Yes. In practice, one company may act as both manufacturer and importer, or as both importer and EU responsible person. In the app, you can create separate entities or reuse the same entity if the legal details match.

Required Contact Data

At minimum, store:

Legal name and full postal address

Email and/or phone number

Website URL (recommended for transparency)
